Kurama Ishime-Ji

Description:

Kurama Ishime-Ji
Stones play an extremely important role in Japanese arts and crafts, including lacquer art. In the Japanese garden, the stones are placed first, before the plants. The stones are selected according to size, shape, surface texture and color. Stone types are named according to where they are found. For example, the best blue stones are found in the Iyo, Awa, Kishû and Chichibu regions, the best green stones in Kamuikotan, Hokkaido and the best rust-colored stones in Kurama. In these pen cases, I have designed a stone surface that reflects the structure and reddish brown, rust-colored of Kurama stones.
